Well, actually we really do -- I think the conscience of the voter alone in the ballot box is one of the sacraments of our democracy, and I've heard numerous examples of people who feel social pressure to say they're for one candidate but not actually vote that way when the time comes.
I, however, am proud to show off the mark I made for President of the United States of America on my absentee ballot, which I'm sending off tomorrow, and I want my posterity to know I think it's the greatest, most important vote I've ever cast. I can't take my son into the voting booth with me this time, but I can show him this.
(I wonder what the Governor of Alaska might say if you asked her what she thought the importance of the Australian ballot is?)
